SPECIAL ADVISING AREA

Distinguishing Your Application

Our professors will push you and your classmates will inspire you. Our liberal arts curriculum, capstone requirement for original work, and focus on writing across the curriculum will provide the foundation you need to be an excellent candidate for law schools across the country.

But everything you’re studying will come into play and take on real meaning through your work crew involvement and community engagement.

These experiences, which you will carefully select in partnership with your advisor, will enhance your law school application. You’ll apply to law school with not only a strong GPA but real-life experiences that distinguish your application.

Your law school application could highlight:

  • participation in our InsideOut program, where you’ve challenged your assumptions and gained insight into our criminal justice system by taking classes alongside women at the Swannanoa Women’s Correctional Facility;
  • your service experience through our Community Engagement Program at Pisgah Legal Services, assisting attorneys with research as you develop your own skills;
  • work experience on our Writing Studio Crew, where you developed your own writing skills while showcasing your leadership abilities as a writing assistant for your fellow classmates.

Our justice system needs curiously insightful, capable, and experienced individuals. We’re here to help you be one.

Warren Wilson prepared me for law school in several important ways. First, time management – with the demands of work, study, and service one has to learn time management, and those were transferable to law school. Next, for me, a solid foundation in literature and writing as an English major was helpful as law school requires much writing and analysis of texts.
